STEPS FOR APPLICATION
Step-1: Search your Program.(One week)
Step-2: Apply Online and Send your application by Post.(One week)
Wait for the Admission Letter(2 Months)
Step 3: Once you Get Admission letter. Apply for the Bank Account in Deutsche Bank and Submit the Money. (20 days)
Step-4: Apply for the VISA. And wait(2 Months)
Total Time Needed: 5-6 Months
1-FIRST STEP: SEARCH YOUR PROGRAM
Select your area of Interest.
Go on Daad.de and Find all the Universities offering that Program.
Compile A list of Programs, including he program name, University name, Deadlines & program requirement in the Xls File.
Remember Most of the International Programs are in English. However be aware that some program are partially or Fully in German.
1-SEARCHING PROGRAMS, FEW TIPS
All programs in Germany are not offer with Same names as in Pakistan, Try looking at the Contents of Courses if the Keywords does not Work. For Example Masters in Networking or Network Security is Not Common name in Germany. But the Contents are offer in Communication and Media Courses.
Some Universities like TUHH need GRE also. However GRE unlike USA is not Common Admission requirement . If you have GRE you may get Edge in Admission in Some Universities. However most universities decide on the Basis of Academic Documents.
1- UNDERSTANDING GERMAN UNIVERSITY STRUCTURE
There are around 400 German Universities offering over 15,000 programs. German Universities are high Standards compared to any country in the world. However following Difference must be Understood.
University of Applied Sciences(HochSchule): They offer education which s more industry oriented. The Course work is generally concluded in first year, Followed by Intern Ship and Thesis. Suitable for Job Oriented Degree.
TU(Technical University): it Offers More Research Oriented Studies, Suitable for PhD. To follow.
***It is important to understand that universities are not centrally organized. There are 16 States in Germany. Each States organized its own universities, also Universities have their own Bodies and most universities are self Organized. It is important to check the Regulations of Each States.
1- WHAT IS MY AREA OF INTEREST?
It is important to Know what your Target program is, You can find your Interest in certain program

SECOND STEP- APPLYING FOR THE PROGRAM AND SENDING APPLICATION
Once you Make a list of programs in which you are interested to apply, the next step is to apply for the program . Following are some steps to do it.
Go to the website of the university and Find the Online Application Portal.
Make an Account and fill in your Online Applications using steps guided by the Wizard.
The next step is to take the print our of the application and attach it with the set of documents(Explained on the next slide) .
2- PREPARING APPLICATION BUNDLE
After you Complete your Online Application. You need to take the Print out of your Online Application. And make the required documents ready.
Following Documents are required
All Academic Documents
Language Certificate, IELTS/TOFEL . German Language(If Required )
Statement of Purpose
Letter of Recommendation. (If format is given on the website then use it, other wise make your Own LORs).
One Page CV, Including your Work Experience, Internships and Research Experience. It better to Mention Complete Detail of your Papers.
2- ATTESTATION OF DOCUMENTS
All Academic Documents should be attested from Notary Public. Few Universities have additional
requirements mentioned on their websites.
IELTS Results can also be attested by the Notary Public. The TOFEL/GRE Score are send through ETS.
Use LOR of the University if give on their Website like TUM other wise make your Own LOR.
If a University mention to attest the documents other then Notary Public then also attest from the mention source. Other wise Notary Public Attestation is Sufficient.
For Document To be Attested from HEC, Use Online appointment System, and Send the Documents which are front attested.
2-LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: QUICK TIPS
Generally two LORS are required. Try to sign it from Senior Professor or some Manager in your Organization.
The LORs must be Signed, Stamped, and Put in the Sealed Envelopes which are counter signed.
Use White Envelopes, with Following Information on their Front
Name of the University , Also Write Letter of Recommendation on the top
Name of the Signatory, His Designation, His Contact (Including his Phone Number, Email and Official Address)
First Close the Envelope with Good Quality Glue, let it dry. Then Let it signed by the professor. And Finally Put Transparent Tape on it.
Always Remember to have Neat Formatting and Spell check on your LORS.
2- STATEMENT OF PURPOSE : QUICK TIPS
“Statement of purpose Reflects your Interest in Certain field provided your earlier educational And Research Activities.”
Never copy and paste the SOP from the internet. Write SOP in your Own Words.
Rewrite, read and review your SOP again and Again. It is most important piece of document and Mistakes in SOP will give very bad impression.
The SOP must include following,
The link between your BSc. Education and your Intentional Area of Masters.
Your Research Interest, Your Future prospect and your Projects oriented you on the same direction as your Intended filed of Masters .
Your Internships, Job Experience or other activity showing your interest in the same Field.
Your BSc. Thesis and other research publications proving reflecting your Interest in the
your Intended Masters Degree.
2- SENDING THE DOCUMENTS & COMPILING POSTAL BUNDLE
Now arrange your documents in the following order
Online Application , CV, Statement of purpose, All Education Documents in Ascending order, Language Certificates, Experience certificates including Internship.
Seal the Letter of Reference separately, and put all document in one big envelope with out stapling them.
Stich them neatly and print the address of the admission office. Also Put your address, name, Email address and contact number at the back of the envelope.

2- SENDING YOUR APPLICATION USING POSTAL
You can use courier services and Pakistan post for Sending your Application.
Pakistan Post, Takes 15-20 days. Costs around 300-500 Rs. Depending on Weight.
TCS, cost around 1500- Rs., Takes 4-5 Days , Using TCS Student Express Service
DHL costs around 1860/- Rs. Takes 3-4 Days , Fedex 1500/- Rs. 3-4 Days
2- WAITING FOR THE RESULTS/ RECEIVING ADMISSION LETTER
Once application is submitted you need to wait for 2-3 months for the results.
Generally Universities send you Email first and then the Admission letter in Hard Copy.
This Hard copy is very important for the following
For Opening Bank Account at Deutsche Bank
For your VISA Application
For the Immigration while travelling abroad
For all your Initial Responses when you reach the university.
3- MANAGING FINANCES FOR THE STUDIES
Education in Germany is Almost free how ever the Living cost is to be Bear be the person himself. Typically this cost is around 600-900 Euros depending on your City.
Following can be adopted to manage this Cost
Opening a Bank account in deutsche bank Germany depositing One year expense in it. Around 8000 Euros.
Getting Some Scholarship from Government of Pakistan or From any Body in Germany.
Getting Some Sponsor from Germany, which gives declaration to Sponsor the student for the period he/she does not get proper job to support himself.
3- LIVING EXPENSES IN GERMANY
Following are Expenses in Germany:
Compulsory Health Insurance, 30 to 80 Euros (depending on the company.)
Mobile Phone Expenses 20 to 60 Euros (depending upon you take Smart Phone on Contract or
Only the Mobile Phone connection.)
Rent of Room – 240 to 500 Euros(depending on your City)
Semester Fee 200-500 Euros(Most of this fee goes to your Semester ticket, it allows to travel free
of cost with your State in Specific trains & Buses).
Other Living expense-100 euros
Total Expense------ 600-900 Euros
3- MANAGING LIVING EXPENSES
According to the VISA policy it is compulsory for every student to show the expense on one Year. Which is on Average 660 Euros per month or 8000 Euros per month.
It is assumed that the student will get some job with in one year and can bear the remaining expense after that.
The student can alternatively provide scholar ship or sponsor Letter as the proof.
For the Remaining Section we will assume that Student has Opted the Block Account way. And decided to Deposit 8000 Euros in the Deutsche Bank.
3- OPENING BLOCK ACCOUNT IN DEUTSCHE BANK
After Receiving Admission letter proceed to the Blue Area Branch, Deutsche bank with
Admission Letter, Passport and CNIC.
Fill in the account opening form, and send the Application Form to the Address written on it
using nearest DHL which is located at Beverley center, Blue Area.
The package should included Account opening form, Admission letter and Copy of Passport.
(Admission letter and Passport should be attested by Deutsche Bank)
In 4-5 Working day you Will Receive Email of Your Account Information in Deutsch Bank.
3- OPENING BLOCK ACCOUNT IN DEUTSCHE BANK
You need to transfer the said amount which you can check from German embassy in
Islamabad website to the Account.. The transfer takes 4-5 more days.
After this you will receive Blocked account letter. Indicating the your Money is now safely
Blocked in the Account. This is received with in One week of sending amount.
Transfer 100-150 euros Extra which are normally required to Activate your Account.
***The Bank account is open in the city in which the university of Admission letter shown. Some
times you decide for some other University whose admission letter is received latter. But this does
not matter as Bank account is accessible through out Germany.
4- APPLYING FOR THE VISA APPLICATION
When you Apply for bank Account also apply for the nearest available appointment.
The VISA appointment system is Online now, and only 5-8 Appointments are made per day. Every years many Student suffer the problem of unavailability of Appointments.
The Bank Opening Process takes not more then 15 days, So if Appointment after 20 Days margin is Available, Book that Appointment.
Embassy Does not Entertain Any Appointment on Phone, Email etc. Only Online appointments are available.
4- SETTING UP FOR THE VISA PROCESS
You need three Sets of Documents, One Original and two Copies.
Following Documents are needed. Make a Check List from the Embassy Website and Complete your Documents. The order of arrangement varies after some time, but there are people to help you at embassy.
Application form(Available on the embassy website), Passport Copy (first 4 pages only)
List o f relative outside Pakistan, Security Questionnaire (Format Available on Embassy website )
Applicant Declaration, One Page CV
Academic Documents(attested by IBCC, HEC Only Originals), Experience Certificate
Proof of Blocked Account, Travelling Insurance
IELTS, German Language Certificates, 4 Photographs, Donot Staple, just use Clip and put them
on the application form.
4- REACHING EMBASSY FOR VISA INTERVIEW
German Embassy is located in Located near Convention Center Isb. Travel Toward Muree and
turn towards QAU near Lake View Park.
Park your Vehicle inside parking, Get the token and Reach Embassy using Shuttle Bus Service.
It is important to show your Passport and Print out of the Appointment send by the Embassy
with you.
Try to around 1 Hours Before time as the travelling inside may take some time.
You will be given the token to Wait for Some time, and then you will go inside .
First your Documents will be arranged in order. And Missing Documents will be copied.
You need to deposit 60 Euros(In Pak Rupees) as VISA Fee in the bank. Also keep some money
for photocopies and bus token(Keep around 12,000 Rs. As safe side).
4- APPEARING IN VISA INTERVIEW
VISA interview is 40-60 Minutes comprising of Different common Questions.
VISA will take 4-8 Weeks for Processing. After this time the VISA will send to the home of
the Candidate using proper courier Service.
5- LEARNING GERMAN
Besides International programs in English, Its useful to Learn German.
Although all International Program has German Language course with them. But it is Useful to
learn some German if time is available.

6-TRAVELLING TO GERMANY: PLANNING YOUR JOURNEY
After getting your visa, you need to pack up and fly to Germany. It is better to make a packing list to bring with you. For your help the list of Such stuff is available on group.
Buy the best quality of travelling case, because you have waiting time, and carry your stuff a lot here and There. Buy the type shown in Figure.
Most of the Flights land at Frankfurt , Berlin or Munich Air port, Plain your Train connections accordingly. The train service in Germany is Called Deutsche Bahn, its website will help you to travel through out Germany.
6-TRAVELLNG TO GERMANY: CARRYING CASH
Besides 8000 Euros Blocked in the account it is wise to carry some cash with you. Although you can carry 10,000 USD or Equal vent with you. But at minimum you should Carry 1000 Euros.
It takes one week to Activate your Account. (Following may be your needs in First week. Depending on your City and University.)
250-500 Euros to Pay your First Semester Fee in University
300-500 Euros for your accommodation, If you get it quickly. Some time you Also need to Pay caution money.
Some money to get food stuff and other things for First Week.
7-LIVING IN GERMANY: FIRST THING FIRST
Once you reaching in Germany you need following to Plan and know quickly .
Task 1: Registration in AAA:
What is (AAA)? Its office in your university which is responsible for all students affairs. Your need
to register your self, by filling in few forms and submitting the Semester fee.
Task 2: Health Insurance: This is Compulsory in Germany, You must need to get public like TK or TOK or Private Health Insurance. Generally, Insurance companies get their agents in the university to help you. If not you can Visit their Office.
Task 3: Activating your Bank Account: Visit the Deutsche Bank Branch in your City and Activate the bank Account. Generally it takes one week to Activate your Bank Account.
Task 4: Anmelden: Register in the city office or Raat House to informed that you have arrived in
the city. But this Registration is only possible when you get a contract of Accommodation.
7-LIVING IN GERMANY: TRAVELLING IN GERMANY
Getting Week Ticket: For first need you need to take Week ticket to travel in Busses etc. After one week time you will Get Semester Ticket from AAA. Which will allow you to Travel Through out your State for no Cost.
Transportation System in Germany is very comfortable and modern. You will get Busses, trams(Intercity Trains) to travel with in the City. Each has fixed Stops, and time Table. A deutsche bahn Application is Available for Smart phone which allow you plan your Travelling in Good Way.
For intercity Travelling with in Germany you will Find Long Distance Trains( Regional Bahn, S Bahn and ICE.)
Regional Bahn- it‟s a intercity train, with less number of stops and travels city to city via direct Route.
S Bahn: It‟s has more number of Stops, First its goes with in the city via underground and then it
goes out of city.
ICE: Fast train with Latest Technology, However Semester Ticket does not Apply on ICE.
7-LIVING IN GERMANY: JOB WITH STUDIES
You can work for 120 full days and 240 Half Days. You can Find three types of Jobs Commonly HIWI, Student mit Arbeiter and Odd Jobs.
HIWI: this type of Jobs are available in your university. This can be any jobs in the university, starting for working on the Library help desk to managing website of some research group. Most HIWI jobs are programming jobs.
Student mit Arbiter: It‟s a research assistant job. PhD. Candidates higher, some student assistants to help them in their research.
Odd Jobs: there are many type of Odd Jobs available. Generally there are companies which manage such jobs.
7-LIVING IN GERMANY: HOW TO FIND THE JOB
To find job, its important to remain Vigilant and keep and Eye on the Notice boards of Different groups. Jobs are advertised on these boards.
A Website called Stellenwerk (University name)provides access to such jobs.
Remain in contact with your Senior Students, or Students already working in certain groups. And Tell them, to help you when a certain Position appears.
You can register in companies for odd job. They will call you when a certain job your Interest appears at your turn.
Normally jobs pay you 8-12 Euros per Hour. And you can easily earn around 400 Euros and Plus month. A Contract is between 40- 80 Hours are month.
7-LIVING IN GERMANY: FINDING ACCOMMODATION
Finding Accommodation is Some times difficult and its Important to Know few basics about it.
Contact the studenten Werk of your University. When you apply for the admission, apply for
the accommodation in Parallel by using Studenten Werk Website of Your University.
Post on the Face book group of Your PSA, Also Keep an Eye on such posts.
Remain in Touch with Seniors students in the City, try to make some contacts before hand.
PSA of your City will accommodate you for First week, so you need to find some place to live
after that.
Wggesuct is other website, to find accommodation in the City. Also there are some other
private companies which provide accommodation.
7-LIVING IN GERMANY: TERMINE
Termine is a German Word means "Appointment"
This refers to Appointment for extension of your Visa. When you will enter Germany , you will
get VISA of 3 months. You need to extend this Visa.
This extension in VISA is normally for 1 years, some raat House may give you two Year
Extension.
It is important to Report any change of Address after this Point, to your Raat House and AAA office.
8-HOW TO STUDY: DIFFERENCE IN STUDY SYSTEM
Its important to understand that German Education System is concept based Studies and Methods used in Pakistan may not work there.
“donot let people to tell your Dream to you. Because people say its impossible because they are not able to achieve it them selves”.
Print the slides or the Manuscript provided by your Professor. Make all your notes on it, Do not use Registers and Pages. Also it is useful to Bind them.
Try to focus on Exercises, and relate your Lecture with them.
Spend time with your tutor, and get office hours. Donot Pend your work.
8-HOW TO STUDY: EDUCATION SYSTEM
Since you have to manage a lot about your Living yourself. Also you need to Manage your Job with your Studies. So it become difficult to study on every day routine.
There are Compulsory credits and elective credits depending on your Program. Some programs may have all elective credits.
Most German Universities have online portals for course Registration. You can make you study plans using these systems .
This may vary however generally there is Course work Followed by Internship and then Thesis in the relevant field on Interest.
German Grading System is CGPA from 1.0 to 5.0 where 1.0 is A and above 4.0 is F.
